Scientists Design Maglev Car With Greater Stability
"Since the late â??60s, scientists have been designing, building and operating â??flying trains,â?? or magnetically levitated (â??Maglevâ??) systems. However, the sci-fi-like technology still faces challenges for increased stability, controllability and cost-effectiveness â?? but scientists are making steady improvements."

The Asian Giant Hornet (with excellent and scary photographs)
"If a colony of about 30,000 European honeybees were to be attacked by 30 giant hornets, they would be wiped out in 3 hours. The hornets would enter the nest, kill the bees, and take their bodies home to their young. After a few successful trips, hornets rub a pheromone on the nest that signals other hornets to attack."

NASCUG and SystemC Symposium at DAC
The IEEE approval of the SystemC standard is a major milestone in the evolution of SystemC. With a foundation built upon the cooperative effort that leverages the combined technology and user experience of a broad group of companies, the industry now has a well defined standard that establishes a new baseline for support of virtually all system modeling and verification.
Please mark your calendar for our SystemC symposium and users meeting at DAC 2006. See below for information, as well as the Call for Presentations for the 5th North American SystemC Users Meeting (NASCUG). We invite you to share your design experiences and techniques using SystemC.
SYSTEMC TECHNOLOGY SYMPOSIUM
Monday, July 24, 2006
12:00 –1:30 pm (complimentary lunch provided)
Room 200 - 212, Moscone Convention Center
www.systemc.org
Registration: www.nascug.org
Hear from industry experts on recent SystemC advancements and using SystemC for doing real world system-level design. Status updates on the technology roadmap, IEEE 1666 and TLM will be presented.
5TH NORTH AMERICAN SYSTEM USERS MEETING
(Co-located with DAC 2006)
Monday, July 24, 2006
2:00 – 6:00 pm (reception starts at 5:00 pm)
Room 200 - 212, Moscone Convention Center
www.nascug.org
Open to DAC attendees, the focus of the NASCUG meeting is on SystemC real-world design methodologies and user experiences. Topics include techniques for integrating SystemC into the design flow and SystemC tool flows and methodologies.
NASCUG CALL FOR CONTRIBUTIONS
The North American SystemC User’s Group (NASCUG) accelerates the use of SystemC for both new and established users of the language by providing venues for user interaction. Following the great success of the first four meetings, we are calling for contributions to the 5th NASCUG meeting to be held Monday, July 24, 2006 at the same location as DAC 2006 (www.dac.com) in San Francisco, CA.
SUBMIT AN ABSTRACT
A central component of the half-day user's group meeting will be several 20 minute presentations discussing SystemC design experiences and techniques. SystemC users interested in presenting their work are encouraged to submit a title and a short abstract (half page) on-line at: http://www.nascug.org/abstracts
The focus of the meeting will be on SystemC design methodology and real-world user experiences.
TOPICS (include but are not restricted to):
* Architectural Modeling with SystemC
* Transaction-Level Modeling
* Software Co-design with SystemC
* Platform Design Using SystemC
* Verification Techniques Using SystemC
* Integrating SystemC into the Design Flow
* SystemC Tool Flows and Methodologies
The final contribution should be a PowerPoint or PDF slide presentation with duration of about 20 minutes.
